Regenerative urban system – Federal University of Alfenas

Created on March, 2021, the Regenerative Urban System of the Federal University of Alfenas, campus Varginha is aimed at promoting regenerative research and actions and social-ecological wellbeing. It was designed in light of essential sustainability precepts, permaculture and agroforestry principles. It covers an area of 8,000 m² (2 acres or 0.8 ha) and contains 800 fruit trees encompassing 120 distinctive species. All trees were planted by over 60 deeply engaged volunteers from the university and local and regional community.
